Guardians of the Cliffs

Did you ever walk across London Bridge on the Great Ocean Road and wonder how safe it really was?

In 1990, part of the famous rock formation suddenly collapsed, leaving two tourists stranded on the section that remained offshore.

The dramatic event made headlines around Australia, and more than three decades later, those who were there still remember the day vividly.

In the first episode of this five-part series, ABC South West Victoria producer Emily Bissland revisits the collapse and the stories that have surrounded it ever since. She turns back the clock to the day before London Bridge fell, exploring the people, rumours and unanswered questions connected to this small coastal community on the edge of the Southern Ocean.

Featuring:
Brigid McKinnon, Raelene Wicks, Murray Barnewall and Christine Kruse.
